The transient nature of fluid flow imposes time varying forces on all systems.These flow regimes require thorough analysis so that both fluid and structural analysis can be properly understood. IDEAS has a proven track record in solving problems of such a nature. Indeed, we have added value in the engineering field since we are able to perform the combination of Fluid Flow Simulation followed by Structural Dynamic Assessment of Fluid Flow Transients, and are therefore capable of providing a variety of complex technological solutions to customers.
Project: Major Vibration Problem on a New Oil Platform.

IDEAS was contacted after the platform was forced to shut down due to the extreme nature of the vibration/shock problem. We suggested that the problem was caused by Fluid Flow and Pipe Configuration. Our client wanted us to provide further verification that our suggestion was correct and awarded us a hydraulics study to be undertaken within an extremely short timescale. We successfully completed the study using complex Fluid Dynamics and gave our client a solution. The solution Worked and the platform resumed normal service. As a result of this successful job, this client now uses IDEAS for alI their complex Stress, Hydraulics and Dynamics Analysis requirements. |
