Project:   Improvement of Production & Elimination of Vibration in a High Volume Process Plant Environment.

IDEAS were asked to investigate the vibration of some main Production Piping and quickly identified the problem as Fluid Transients. A Transient Hydraulic Simulation was carried out then a Dynamic 'Time Domain' Pipe Stress Analysis of the system. Finite Element Analysis was carried out to assess the structural Integrity and facilitate a Fatigue Analysis.

IDEAS provided recommendations for the Flow Process and also some Structural changes. A secondary benefit was that we noticed the system was badly designed Hydraulically, and put forward suggestions that would dramatically increase the Plant Production Rates, within the existing equipment and pipework arrangements. The Vibration problem was solved and the clients profitability was increased.
